On the occasion of International Olympic Day, I extend my best wishes to all the sportspersons of Sikkim who have contributed to diverse disciplines and represented the state in various sporting events, including the Olympics over the years. We are proud of their contribution which has been a motivation for other aspiring sportspersons and youths.In keeping with the theme – Move For Peace, the Olympic Day this year celebrates the power of sports to bring people together in peace. It is also a call to action for people to move together and show our united support for a peaceful world
The President and members of the Sikkim Olympic Association called on me at my official residence to convey their greetings on the occasion of International Olympic Day 2022. Similarly, I was delighted to meet the dextrous and talented boxer Jayant Dagar, the first Sikkimese to win a bronze medal in the 54kg weight category in Asian Junior Boxing Championship, earlier in 2022
